We have a fleet of RUT240 devices.

We configured Mobile as our primary and WAN as failover (due to data pricing).

When we are on Mobile, we can reach the modem through its mobile IP.

When Mobile is out of range and we are on WAN, we can reach the modem through its WAN ip.

Is it possible to configure to reach the modem through WAN while we are on Cellular? (this is very useful to test our backup connection while installing)

Thanks

Jan

Hello,

We haven't made such tests but perhaps the only possible way is maintaining both connections active at the same time by implementing Load Balancing but keep in mind that this will consume data from both services.

You can check the following link if you are interested.

https://wiki.teltonika.lt/view/RUT240_Load_Balancing

Also there are ways to enable very simple VPN and using the VPN IP instead of the Mobile or WAN IPs. one very simple VPN is Zerotier For example. you will find more information in the following link.

https://wiki.teltonika.lt/view/ZeroTier_One_VPN_configuration

You can do it by using any VPN service at your convenience but keep in mind that regardless Zerotier, all other VPN options are a bit more complicated to implement.

Also I forgot.

Another simple solution is to implement DynDNS

Check the requirements in the following link

Hi,
 ok thanks for the suggestions

But load balancing would only be for outgoing traffic right? So would not apply for incoming

In theory would apply to incoming connections too but surely you will need to implement the proper port forwarding rules.
