Hi

I have a RUT 950 LTE 4 G router.

I've noticed recently it stops answering DNS queries on the LAN so thought I would check the firware. It's way out of date.

Current Firmware Information

Firmware version RUT9XX_R_00.01.497
Firmware build date 2015-06-25, 16:33:44
Kernel version 3.10.36

I've been reading the forums and as I read in there I can't update it from the server, neither can I from the download as it says the file is too big.

So I guess I need a bootloader update but on my machine this is not even listed.

Is it safe to go ahead and update the bootloader with something so old?

Many thanks.

Matt

Hi,

Bootloader should be upgraded at first to be able to upgrade FW version. New firmwares support older HW versions.

To upgrade bootloader:

To upgrade Firmware:

Great, thanks. Just wanted to check I wasn't going to brick it!

Hi again.

I'm afraid this is not working for me. I've gone through the bootloader upgrade procedure. Using the latest bootloader image (with the webui in the filename).

It all goes as it should but the router never comes back. I have waited over 10 minutes and it is never pingable again.

Hello again,

So if you try to normally reach the router (not from the bootloader menu) it is now unreachable ?

Hi

I did it again and thankfully it came back. Then upgraded the firmware so think we are there!

Thanks for following up.
