I am trying to communicate two RUT955 modules via RS232 - OVER IP ... each module is connected to a laptop with teraterm (rs232 terminal) then I have the two RUT955 modules connected by a land cable (rj45). I can't make them communicate. I already tried a module and Hercules and the connection was successful. the connection went like this: laptop with teraterm (RS232) to module, another laptop connected via land (rj45) to the module and everything worked perfect. The idea is to send the data of the RS232 ports via wireless (internet) from one module to another. Do you know if this can be done? attached capture of the configuration.

Hello,

If you need to send serial data (RS232 or RS485) you can try using Modbus Master feature: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT955_Modbus#Modbus_Serial_Master

Hello,

I think problem is that you try to use a private(internal) IP address.
If you want a connection over wireless(mobile) internet you should use public (external) IP.

More about public and private IP:

And of course, you should open used port via firewall, in this case, 80 (I extremely recommend do not use 80 port, because this port is using by  HTTP).

Hello,

First, if you are trying to connect over WAN/Internet you would have to note that you will either need a VPN or public IP at both ends of connection.

Second, you need to use different ports (and I would offer something form high ports like 6500 or 7000 or something alike, not port like 80 that is used by HTTP). when configuring use one port for one router Server configuration and another router Client configuration. e.g.:
Router 1: Server - 6500 port / Client - 7000 port.
Router 2: Server - 7000 port / Client - 6500 port.

Lastly, do not forget to add interface through which communication will commence (you can find that under Serial configuration)

If ports match and there is no mistakes in server address both devices connected through serial ports should be able to send and receive information from each other.
