The quick start guide of the TRB140 mentions connecting a USB cable and installing the NDIS driver in order to use it.

Is it possible to use the device connected only via Ethernet (i.e. as a router)?

Hello, 

If you want to access TRB140 using the ethernet port you can reach the Web UI of the device on http://192.168.2.1/cgi-bin/luci
