RUTX12 is 2x 4G/LTE (Cat 6) 4x SMA, and is expected by end of Q2 (end of June), and will have 2 active LTE modems:

Powerful Dual LTE Cat 6 router is designed for mission critical applications. Equipped with two LTE modems for dual simultaneous connections allowing instant seamless LTE service switching and load balancing features make this device irreplaceable in applications where loosing connection is not an option.

DUAL LTE

Cellular speeds up to 600Mbps with dual simultaneous LTE CAT 6 connections

BONDING

Effectively combines multiple Internet sources into one

DUAL SIM

Instant failover switching

How will bonding work exactly for Teltonika?

Other modems like Peplink offer bonding but unfortunately requires going through their VPN service:

Did not see any bonding details around https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUTX12_Mobile

Hi,

The Mobile section on the WebUI is not directly related to bonding. The way it works is:

  • Set up connections for both SIM cards
  • Set up Load Balancing in the Network → Failover page

The speed of the router with dual LTE should be equal to SIM1 speed + SIM2 speed - ~15 %. This is based on preliminary tests and may change in the future (for the better, I hope :)). However, this increase works only with multiple connections (for example, a group users using the WiFi network), so the speed will not increase for single connection solutions, such as single video streaming.

Peplink's bonding is different. It's used to increase the speed of a single connection by establishing two VPN connections (one for each modem) to their server. Then all traffic goes through the server, thus it can increase the speed of a single connection, but it's dependent on their VPN server's resources as well.

(Disclaimer: I'm not an expert on Peplink devices.)

Thank you that really helps! Particularly the details on the single connection scenario.

Hi,

Bonding is no available for the RUTX series routers via Bondix-S.A.NE. You can find all the details here: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/Bondix_Intelligence.

Kind regards

Hi there,

Bonding may not be included natively in your Teltonika RUTX12 router yet. You can, however, upgrade it to do bonding by installing the Bondix S.A.NE Client on your RUTX12.

With Bondix' Simple Aggregation of NEtworks, supported Teltonika router models are able to combine 2 or more WAN links (LTE, 5G, Ethernet or Satellite) together to create one highly reliable Internet connection with one combined high bandwidth for all applications.

Feel free to test it for yourselves with a free-of-cost 7-day Bondix S.A.NE trial!
