I have a new RTX11 with a directional 800-2600MHz antenna, it does a great job of picking the tower I want in LTE Band 1 with 88 RSRP.

However the cell tower also supports Band 8, which I've seen the iPhone and even RTX11 connect to when only using the packaged small antennas previously (~ 100 RSRP)

Why is the modem in Single Carrier Aggregation mode and not 2xCA B1+B8 if both such bands are available? It says this combo is supported:

Hello,

For router to use B1+B8 carrier aggregation Mobile Network Provider (MNP) must not only support B1 (2100 MHz) and B8 (900 MHz) bands on themselves but also CA 1A-8A (B1+B8) carrier aggregation. For now at least officially only 4 MNP supports that:

  • Drei Austria (Austria)
  • Vodacom South Africa (South Africa)
  • KT (South Korea)
  • TrueMove H (Thailand)
For numerous other providers supporting B1 and B8, you might connect to one or another band separately, but you will not be able to use Carrier aggregation with both of those bands (B1+B8). So unless yours MNP is one of previously mentioned 4 we will not be able to help.
Best regards,

Thanks for clarifying. Can you share a list of of these officially supported ones? Would like to see for a specific country and set of operators, what the current options are.

Most extensive list of global operators with carrier aggregation information and bands that I've found and use most of time is here it does not have everything, and lacks some information, so further investigation is needed sometimes, but it is better than nothing.
