Hi,

Could you please explain what did you mean by saying using RUT240 local address as the source address? And what do you want to do with RMS?

I will need a more correct explanation of what you're willing to achieve.

In our scenario (a private mobile VPN), the RUT240 reaches RMS via the 3g-ppp interface using the mobile IP assigned by the provider as source IP. For several reason this address is not routable in the customer HQ network. we are wondering if it is possible generate the management traffic using the  local LAN IP assigned to the RUT240.

It's still unclear what is the use-case of this. A topology that would show what's going on in your internal network would be really helpful.

From the first try, I understood that you wanted to use RMS generated link as some kind of source/destination IP address in some kind of routing table, but I believe that is not what you're after and obviously it would not be possible if your internal network is still inaccessible even if you're connected to it directly.

So please provide us with a topology of what is the vision of your connection and use-case and maybe that will help us to solve your issue and answer your question.

root@Teltonika-RUT240:~# ifconfig

3g-ppp    Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol

          inet addr:100.65.1.56  P-t-P:10.64.64.64  Mask:255.255.255.255

br-lan    Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:1E:42:29:96:A0

          inet addr:172.16.0.17  Bcast:172.16.0.23  Mask:255.255.255.248

root@Teltonika-RUT240:~# route -n

Kernel IP routing table

Destination     Gateway         Genmask         Flags Metric Ref    Use Iface

0.0.0.0         10.64.64.64     0.0.0.0         UG    0      0        0 3g-ppp

10.64.64.64     0.0.0.0         255.255.255.255 UH    0      0        0 3g-ppp

172.16.0.16     0.0.0.0         255.255.255.248 U     0      0        0 br-lan

For traffic toward RMS, RUT240 use 100.65.1.56  as source address.

Is this possible use 172.16.0.17 ìnstead ?

Hi,

Unfortunately, there is no such way to use the local address as your source address on RMS as it is used in your local network and isn't the interface that you're getting internet connection from. Your router will use 3g-ppp interface to connect to outside networks, as it is the main route to the world-wide internet.
