We have a few devices that were provisioned in the United States using an RUT950 global SKU and being deployed in Europe.   Two of those have been deployed in Oslo and a third deployed in Sweden.  All devices were working well on the AT&T network stateside.   When deploying in Europe none worked immediately.  There have been two scenarios:

1. Oslo - Both of these devices we can see a high level of authentication requests and communication routing through the Telenor NO carrier that we can see in Jasper.  No session appears to ever get established.

2. Sweden - This device we saw establish a session on the 3 SE carrier.  However, no data seemed to be flowing and the router never showed online in RMS.  Locally, we were able to switch carrier to Telenor SE and data started to flow.  We then switched back to the original attempted carrier, 3 SE, and everything continued to work well.

Any thoughts/suggestions on what could be causing the Oslo devices to behave the way they are and any suggested troubleshooting steps?   Similarly, any insight as to why the Sweden device behaved the way it did and how to prevent having to switch back and forth between carriers for the device to come online?

Thanks!

Hi,

I believe the best way to troubleshoot this would be to try to call the original carrier you're using. There could be many things stopping you from connecting - maybe the operator didn't enable roaming for that card? Maybe there's a specific hidden operator that should be used in Oslo? Maybe your SIM needs to go through some special procedure before connecting and so on. Please call your operator and make sure the frequency bands that Oslo operator uses are supported by your RUT950 device.

https://teltonika-networks.com/product/rut950/ head over to Ordering sub-page to check if your device is supported.

Roaming is enabled.  At least for the device in UK and Sweden if we scan for Network Operators then move over to another it works.  We can also move back to another operator without issue.   We are now seeing the issue in:  UK, Sweden, Norway, and Austria.  The device in Austria was in the UK working fine, the devices in UK, Sweden, and Norway were originally in the US working fine.  The frequency bands all appear to work with the RUT950 global SKU as well as we can eventually connect when we do the Network Operator trick.

For this, you could Manual - Auto setting on the Network Operators page. You can enter your wanted operator in roaming, it will be a priority one, but if it doesn't succeed in connecting to it - it will switch to auto and connect to the available operator instead (in this case while you're not in roaming it will connect to the normal operator).
