I was wondering how to connect an external relay to the RUT 955 and switch on and off the lights ? Do i connect the relay to the digital pins and use http web requests?

Hey thanks for your reply !!

Does that mean i can only give a input of max of 30vdc to the OC output from the battery ? Because i want to power up big lights , and that's why i am using an external relay to handle the Voltage coming from the Battery to power up the lights.

Hi,

Could you give a full topology of what are you trying to do? Switch off the lights of the router or switch the lights of something else that is connected through output?

Please be more precise about this question.

Hi,

in this case, you would need something like this: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT955_Relay_to_Open_Collector_Output

If you look at the scheme I've sent you, you can see that there are two circuits. So the circuit where you're going to connect your lights (on the left) only depends on the relay itself - how powerful it's going to be.

So sorry.. I did not understand the circuit you are talking about.. Is the second circuit without connecting to pin 4?

Thanks much

Hello,

I have seen this link https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT955_Relay_to_Open_Collector_Output.

1-why we need to connect pin 4 ?

2-can we use pin 3&8 same way as pin 5&10 (and cancel pin 4 connection)

3-can I remove the dc power supply in the diagram and take power from the adaptor that comes with the device (9 volt 0.75A written on it) although the pin 3 says "external 0-30 VDC 0.25A" (in this link https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT955_Input/Output ) does this mean that the main adaptor will damage pin 3 if used ?

4-can I connect external relay coil +ve terminal to the main adaptor and the -ve terminal to pin 5 and connect pin10 to the adaptor ground (without using external power supply).

I know that's a lot of questions, sorry for that.

thanks,

Hi there

I have created a schematic to help understanding the 4 PIN connector. In your scenario, you would use PIN 1 and 4 to power your relay. You would need to ensure the C/NC/NO contacts are suitable to the current rating you require.

The RUT955 also has an onboard relay (PINS 5 & 10) capable of 0-24VDC, 4A

hope this helps
