Hi,

When attempting to configure the Mobile WAN 2 interface, only the Advanced tab (enable NAT etc) is displayed and the General tab (DHCP etc) is not visible. We have conducted a factory reset of the router and the effect is persistent.

Is this a known effect and if so what is the resolution?

Thanks

This screen grab shows the page where only the Advanced tab is shown. What I don't understand is why the Basic tab is not shown so I can check DHCP settings etc.

Since the primary WAN is cellular, I would expect the WAN IP to be a public address rather than a private address.

It's because the thing you're trying to edit is the mobile interface. It cannot have DHCP at this point as it connects through a different protocol. If you go edit your Wired WAN interface, you'll see the protocol selection there, but as it is a mobile one - there is nothing to edit except connection type in Network > Mobile.

To set public IP address (if you have one given by your operator), go to Network > Mobile and set APN to Custom.

Thanks Ernesto, that has solved it.

The APN was set to Default (which seemed reasonable at the time), setting to Custom has queried the SIM and discovered the cellular provider and presumably the correct lower layer settings. The WAN IP is still in the 10.x.x.x range but Internet traffic is now flowing.

Thank you! yes

Hi,

If this happened and after the factory reset, you get the same result without any other configurations - try clearing your browser cache or trying another browser. Also, if the factory reset saved your settings, you can try firstboot in your CLI to fully clear your device.

In other cases, I will need a full step-by-step configuration of how you managed to do it until this point.

Hi Ernestas,

We'll try the browser checks asap. We carried out the factory reset via GUI rather than CLI, could that have made a difference? We also followed the setup wizard which didn't seem to show any persistent settings apart from logical defaults such as DHCP scope etc. Is that a clue that the reset did not work properly?

Thanks,

JC

Hi,

Most of the time if you want a full reset it's better to do it through the bootloader menu or CLI command fastboot.

Hi,

My next step is to try a command line factory reset, can you point me to the instruction set to complete this?

Thanks

First of all, please give some screenshots where you see the issue, this will help me to understand if it's really a problem or just a misunderstanding.

Hi Ernesto, my customer has asked me to supply a new router in case that turned out to be the easier fix. Interestingly, this new router also shows the same behaviour, i.e. the WAN IP is in the 10.x.x.x range and only the Advanced tab shows when editing the WAN settings.

Well, I don't see any strange behavior so far with these two identical screenshots you provided. IP is given by your operator, which is NAT'ed from their side. Nothing wrong with it.
