Hello,

Regarding the issue you are having there are a lot of factors that may affect LTE speeds you can refer to this link below for more details:
https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/LTE_Speed_Discrepancies

Also it is best to check if the RUTX12 is using Carrier Aggregation or not you can check it in Status > Network > Mobile

Hope it helps.

Jerome

Hi team,

I found this by googleling.

I just tested these two routers, X11 and X12 and yes i have noticed the speed is significantly slower on the

X12 - Download: 7.70 MbpsUpload resultsUpload: 4.15 Mbps

X11 - Download: 42.0 MbpsUpload resultsUpload: 20.1 Mbps

Both on set with same IP, same Wifi, same antenna sitting side by side on my desk.

Must be some kinder settings in the X12 I missed but both are identical in the settings.

Could I please get some advise.

Cheers

Hello,

This would be interesting to look at.

Did you use the same SIM card from the same mobile operator?

Do you use two SIMs with load balancing enabled in RUTX12?

Do both routers acquire the same APN (check Network -> Interfaces)?

Do you have all mobile antennas attached to the devices?

Do both devices use the same frequency bands (Status -> Network -> Mobile)?

Also, do both devices have same modem modules and firmware versions (Status -> System -> Modem), you may need try to update?

Could you send a troubleshoot file in a private message from RUTX12? Please, replicate the issue, in your case that would be simply configuring the router the way you use it, then access router's WebUI, go to System -> Administration -> Troubleshoot section and download troubleshoot file from there.

Best regards,

Hi technical support team,

To answer your questions:

Did you use the same SIM card from the same mobile operator?

I have purchased 3 same simcards today all on same plan, I even interchanged them and still the same.

Do you use two SIMs with load balancing enabled in RUTX12?

I used 2 sims for X12 and 1 sim for x11 both on default settings

Do both routers acquire the same APN (check Network -> Interfaces)?

confirmed both on telstra.internet APN

Do you have all mobile antennas attached to the devices?

both on same antennas, yes i have removed and interchanged them between the routers same issue.

Do both devices use the same frequency bands (Status -> Network -> Mobile)?

Yes.

Also, do both devices have same modem modules and firmware versions (Status -> System -> Modem), you may need try to update?

Updated to latest firmware on both.

Could you send a troubleshoot file in a private message from RUTX12

Also send you X11 logs and I have included video capture of both devices and all the settings.

furthermore into this, on both routers under Band Selection its got Auto selected, however only on the X12 is using Single Carrier Aggregation where as the X11 have Dual.

See photos below.

edit, appears to be Carrier Aggregation does not change to Dual on auto mode and even if when i select B3 and B7, when i reboot and modem it still displays single and then i repeat the reboot 2-3 times.

 Please look into this.

Michael

Could you try the following change in RUTX12:
Navigate to Network -> Mobile -> General. Set band selection to Manual. Pick B3 and B7 in LTE bands. Save & apply. Based on the screenshots, combination of these bands provide more bandwidth, though band 28, selected by RUTX12, has better signal characteristics, which might be the reason why the router picks it.

Yes that appears to resolve it the speed on the X12 however when router reboots, the Carrier Aggregation changes to back to Single again, potential bug?

also X11 is set as auto for band selection and it always show as Dual, where as the X12 displaying as Single.

Could you login via CLI or SSH and execute the following command to query the connected band details from the modem, sometimes WebUI may simply be not representing actual details correctly:

  • gsmctl -A 'AT+QCAINFO'

On the other hand, band selection is determined by the software within the modem. As mentioned, the signal indicators for band 3 and 7 are worse than band 28 and that might be the reason for branching results across devices, as well as the reason for RUTX12 to drop band 7 or band 3, even if both are selected.

You can also try to update one of the modems in RTUX12 to see if that makes any difference. For instructions, please check here. Modem IDs are 3-1 and 1-1.2, latest firmware version is the same as in the referenced link.

with below command entered.

  • gsmctl -A 'AT+QCAINFO'

So it is using carrier aggregation, only within the same band and between different channels.

Updated modem to EG06ELAR04A08M4G, however on the X12 i still need to change Band selection Manual for it to select Dual under Carrier Aggregation as for the X11 it Auto detects and changes to Dual by itself.

When you have performed a firmware update, did you do it with Keep settings option enabled?

Could you try resetting both devices from factory defaults, if you did. Depending on the previous version, migration to the latest may have left some internal configurations, which might interfere with the device operation.

by anonymous

I just restored to factory default settings on both units and now both units can not change to Dual under Carrier Aggregation.

Was the log files i sent you able to check if it is firmware related to this release?
