RUTX12 with 2 SIM's was working fine on RUTX_R_00.02.03.4. Updated to 02.05.1 which also appeared to be working fine. Then updated modem firmware and ran into the same issues other people have had but believe that was resolved however the SIM switch menu option has now disappeared and see the following log entries in system log

Tue Dec  1 10:36:40 2020 daemon.info sim_switch[6966]: [get_interval:53] error: Entry was found but could not get current sim!

Tue Dec  1 10:36:40 2020 daemon.info sim_switch[6966]: [sim_get:39] error: Failed to look up for `sim` object!

Both SIMs still seem to be working and passing traffic and still show as load balanced.

Hi,

Sim switch is removed in later firmware as it doesn't make sense when both SIM cards are active at once. That's why there's no more option like that. Regarding errors you've encountered - try resetting your router or reflashing the newest firmware without keeping the settings.

Thanks - that makes sense and just use the failover option. Will try reflashing etc and see what happens.

Modem firmware update was a problem (updated modem 2 - but on reboot modem 1 was showing no firmware and N/A - followed the steps in other articles to scp the folder over and run the update that way - 1st time though modem 1 came back up with old firmware and modem2 new firmware - 2nd time both had new firmware) but guessing you're working on a fix for that - I assume it only happens if you're using one of the SIM's as you apply the firmware?

In case your modem is acting up and not showing as active - I would suggest reflashing it. If you need a lower or higher firmware - tell me, i'll drop a link here so you can download it and flash it on your device.

In case others stumble across this issue. Had this on RUTX_R_00.02.05.2, flattened the device and I can see the option now.

I was expecting a switch back interval on SIM2, we are at sea on VSAT at the moment so I'm unable to test any further but I intend to pull the primary and then put it back to see if the device will switch back once it's available again. SIM2 is a roaming card for when the vessel is outside the EU.
