I tried the GPS time synchronization on my RUTX12. Every time the synchronization happens the time shifts one hour forward which corresponds to my timezone Europe/Prague.

Please note that I'm also running NTP Server on my RUTX12. The timezone issue propagates wrong time across all my devices on the network.

To fix this the only way is to set RUTX12 timezone to UTC which leads to misleading information coming from notification events (such as e-mail)—the events do not contain timezone information so its really easy to misinterpret them.

Hello,

For the issue you are having could you provide screenshots about the GPS fix time result and make your laptop or computer as the RUTX12 NTP client and check the difference?

Hello,

Here are my findings.

When the Timezone is UTC:

localhost:~ petr$ sudo ntpdate -v rutx12
21 Dec 13:24:33 ntpdate[29438]: ntpdate 4.2.8p15@1.3728-o Tue Jun 23 15:33:28 UTC 2020 (1)
21 Dec 13:24:39 ntpdate[29438]: adjust time server 192.168.1.12 offset +0.006220 sec

When I switch to Europe/Prague:
The router:
root@rutx12:~# date
Mon Dec 21 14:26:11 CET 2020

The laptop:
localhost:~ petr$ sudo ntpdate -v rutx12
21 Dec 13:26:20 ntpdate[29460]: ntpdate 4.2.8p15@1.3728-o Tue Jun 23 15:33:28 UTC 2020 (1)
21 Dec 14:26:26 ntpdate[29460]: step time server 192.168.1.12 offset +3600.006263 sec

The GPS fix time is similar (except for differences in successive executions):
The router:
root@rutx12:~# gpsctl -e -f
2020-12-21 12:28:55 1608553735 root@rutx12:~#
root@rutx12:~# gpsctl -e -f
2020-12-21 12:29:36 1608550176 root@rutx12:~#

I hope it helps a bit. This happened around 13.20–13.30 CET.

Hello,

Could we schedule a short remote session?  We could do the remote session within this timings tomorrow morning 9am-12pm UAE Dubai time.

Hello,

So the issue is if both NTP client and GPS synchronization is enabled at the same time. Use one or the other is the way to go.

Thank you Jerome for your time.

With best regards,

PETR
