is it possible, to install a custom tailored 2nd GUI for basic purposes like WiFi on/off, enable/configure WWAN, etc...

Hi,

Everything is possible with specific knowledge and skills. In this case, we offer the source code for those who want to change or extend our development over the firmware. If you wish to do changes such as second page for more simple WebUI - you should start with the link above.

In case it's too much work than you expected you can always use the slider on the right side of the current WebUI, in which you can turn on/off some of the main functions of the router.
