We are designing a board that is powered over PoE+ (802.3at, type A with power over data lines).

The switch is not powering the device, while the communication is running (100Mbit). Does the device support power over data lines (type A)? Or does it support type B (with power over spare pairs in cable)?

More info about A/B type: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_over_Ethernet#Pinouts

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. TSW100 has been designed for type B standard. Most of the devices are designed to support both A and B standards as you're not always sure with what PSE (Power sourcing equipment) are you going to power them, so that is done for safety purposes. So if you weren't lucky with type A, now you definitely know that the TSW100 is type B PSE that powers over spare pairs.

Does the switch support crossover cables, and so supply the device with the other pair, and also communicate over the same pair?

If you're looking forward to power the switch from switch - no, crossover cable will not work.

And answering your other question: as it is a type B standard switch - it will power only through 4-5 pins and sending data through the powering pair would require a Type A switch.
