Hi all,

Router A uses a SIM Card and gets a public IP address where as Router B does not have a sim card. The server can ping Router A , the laptop but cannot ping Router B or access its GUI. From Router A's GUI (System > Administration > Diagnostics), I can ping Router B. From my laptop, I can ping and access Router B. Am I missing static routes on both Routers?

Thanks

Hi,

I have found the answer. No static route is required.

Hello,

I suppose you are pinging Router A using mobile operator IP? If that is the case you are missing the Static route in Router A. More information about static routes and how to set them up: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT950_Routing#Static_Routes

Hello,

Yes Router A has a sim card and uses mobile operator IP.

Is my logic below correct?

  1. Server pings 1.1.1.180.
  2. ICMP requests are sent to Router A which forwards it to Router B.
  3. Router B replies to the ICMP requests but these requests are dropped by Router A because it doesn't know where to forward them

Under Router menu,

  • Routing table = MAIN
  • Interface = WAN (Mobile)
  • Destination address = 1.1.1.180
  • Netmask = 255.255.255.255
  • Gateway = 1.1.1.177
  • Metric = empty
After adding that route, I still cannot ping Router B from the server.
Thanks for helping.
