Question

Hi all,

(This is my first post)

I own a RUT950 with latest firmware (5.04) and would like to view all the nearby cell towers (cell id, signal strength, etc.). I am familiar with the gsmctl command line tool but I can't find a way to do this. Is this possible?

Hello,

You can view nearby cells with this command:

gsmctl -I

When I run the command I get a timeout;

gsmctl -I
Timeout.

The modem is working on something because at this point I've lost my data connection.

I also tried using the shell mode with the "QENG" AT command. I've waited for 10 minutes but there is no response.

gsmctl -H
entered shell mode. type 'exit' to quit...
client> AT+QENG=?
server:47> +QENG: ("servingcell","neighbourcell","3gcomm")
client> AT+QENG="neighbourcell"

[no response after 10 minutes]

Am I doing something wrong?

No, everything looks correct. I suspect you may have an older modem that doesn't support the same AT commands. Can you send me your router's Troubleshoot file via private messages?
