Hello,

I would like to join two networks through VPN.

Network 1.

Router 192.168.73.1 with public IP address. It runs DNS server too.

VPN server 192.168.73.4 I do not have great deal of control over the VPN server. (It is Synology VPN server). There is not much to configure.

Network 2

Router Teltonika Rut950 192.168.78.1 runs Dns server too, No public IP address it is on 4G network, Rut950 is configured as OpenVPN client.

After enabling VPN client on Teltonika, I can from network 2 access any computer,  including those on Network 1.

But not the other way. From network 1 I can access computers on network2 only through Port forwarding.

Would you have any suggestion what I forgot to configure? Does it even possible what I am trying to do?

Best regards

Petr

Hi,

You should enable traffic from VPN to your LAN network. You can achieve it using one of these services.

Also, please take a look to these configuration examples, they'll be useful to you.
Any further doubt please let us know.
Regards.

Hello,

I have the same problem:

LAN1

Static IP

DHCP 192.168.1.x

PPTP VPN Server on Synology DS218J on static 192.168.1.122

LAN 2

RUT950 over Vodafone 4G WAN with NAT

PPTP client on RUT950 connected to DS128J

From LAN 2 I see the IPs of LAN 1.

I need to access LAN 2 IPs from LAN 1 (all of which are fixed, NO DHCP). I could create a VPN server service on RUT950 but the ISP's IP is natted and DDNS not working. Through the port forwardnig I could access the IP of LAN 2 pointing to the IP of RUT950: port of IP, but for what I have to do it is not good. I have a SW console that drives various Raspberry / AV players via IP addresses. I do not know how to do

Thank you

Francesco

Hi,

Did you try using static routes or any traffic rule in the firewall?

Hi,

I don't have much experience setting up Firewall. I looked at both "Traffic Rules" and "Static routes", but I didn't understand much. Can you give me some advice on how to solve this problem? In Firewall-General Setting-PPTP I added WAN and LAN in destination zone and Default forwarding action in "Accept" status

Hi,

Basically, you need to set up from which IP/port (Source) to which IP/port destination you need to forward packages.

In this case, you can forward all the packages from one interface to another interface using zone forwarding.

https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT240_Firewall#Zone_Forwarding

Or, you can set up a specific IP/Port using traffic rules.

https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT240_Firewall#Traffic_Rules

Please take a look to the links, they have a good explanation regarding each feature.

If you still can't achieve your goal please let us know and we can help you.

Hi,

I am attaching the screenshots of the Zone Forwarding and Traffic Rules as I configured them in my RUT950.

https://community.teltonika-networks.com/?qa=blob&qa_blobid=4898002646146014201

For clarity, after turning on RUT950 I am able to ping LAN 1 (192.168.1.x) from LAN 2 (192.168.9.x). While I can't ping LAN 2 (192.168.9.x) from LAN 1 (192.168.1.x).

Excuse me but I want to understand if I am doing well and I do not write nonsense

Regards

P.S.

If this job gets too complicated, I'm also willing to pay for a correct and working configuration

Hi,

Are you using two RUT950 to perform this connection?

Did you setted the same configuration in both routers?

If you can create a topology image using IP/ports to understand the specific needing we can help you to solve the issue.

Regards.

Hi,

I attach the topology image of two lan:

https://community.teltonika-networks.com/?qa=blob&qa_blobid=286823224742922434

If you think that in lan1 the devices (router vodafone Power station and DS218J) are not good, recommend the suitable product. The DS218J is a simple NAS and there aren't many options. The Vodaphine power station has port forwording and dmz. For me it is necessary to ping the IPs of lan2 from lan1

Hi,

I've seen the topology, but you didn't put the VPN's IP's.

Which IP's are you using for your VPN?

You can ping from LAN2 the LAN1 because your power station has a public IP. But seems your VPN is not established, due you can't ping in both directions.

Did you check these steps for PPTP configuration? https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/PPTP_configuration_examples
