probably depends on the paint.. metallic would be problematic. But even full colors might interfere, depending from what they are made of and if that interacts with RF.
But you can test that just for kicks.. get a box made from metal (cookies or some sweets have them occasionally) and put the antenna in there and see how it affects it?
