Hi !

No issues when trying to connect from lan to port 80 or 22 - device RUT 955.

But as soon I try to connect to public IP which is shown in overview (WAN IP), I receive a timeout.

SSH and WebUI remote access is of course enabled in section Access Control.

Could this be an issue because I use a Magenta Prepaid card ?

What else could be the problem?

BR,

Andreas

Hi,

Yes, it could be that the Public IP that you're given isn't exactly the Public IP, it could be the private IP or service of remote accessing it could be blocked from the operator side.

To see exactly if it's public - try pinging to that same Public WAN IP from an external network (it could be your smartphone connected to the mobile network or anything else that isn't in the same network as Magenta).

If you're able to ping that address from outside network - try resetting your device to default factory settings and set-up a port forwarding instead of Access Control SSH and WebUI ticks.

Yes, it seems it's not the real public address - Ping fails with destination not reachable.

So what you recommend here, buy a normal data sim instead of this prepaid one?

Hi,

I'm afraid that what you will have to do.

Unless you would like to try our RMS service where you can connect to your device and devices behind router without Public IP?

You will find feature list and more information about our RMS platform here:

I configured RMS accordingly to get remote http access to my device - works basically.

But the connection speed is very slow. It needs some reloads and at least 30s to open a simple login page from my internal device, independent of generated normal or legacy remote address. On the other side external access speed to RUT955 WebUI is acceptable.

Is there any way to speed this up ?

I also exclude speed issues with my device because I see instant reply when I use DynDNS with public IP in combination with Powerline and a FritzBox.

How about the signal on your RUT955? If you ping outside the network - could you give me an average ping response time? For example you could ping 8.8.8.8.
