Hey guys and gals,

The current primary SIM in our infrastructure is not SMS enabled. I was wondering if I could put in a second SIM and use that to give SMS commands even though it wont be primary.

I have tested this and it doesn't seem to be possible but I may not have my configuration correct.

The second SIM works correctly and will receive the commands (when primary SIM) but when it is not the primary SIM I can't send it any commands.

Hi,

As the router is only with a single modem - a second SIM must be active in order to send the SMS. So in this case, your SMS could be sent only if the modem switched to SIM2 in failover or when it's selected as primary.
