Currently utilising rut955 primary sim data only plan,

Secondary sim data and voice/sms.

Set up to change from primary to secondary when no data etc.

Can secondary sim when becomes active send sms or email alert to advise now using secondary sim?

Thanks in advance

Scott

Hi,

Yes, it is possible to switch between two SIM's on no data condition.

To have your alert before the SIM change - you will have to fill your data limit here (wiki link attached under) and leave a few megabytes so the modem would have time to send the alert from the SIM that it's switching from.

Hi,

Thanks for the response but it hasn’t really answered my question. I’ll explain it better.

My primary sim is data only(no voice or sms capability) Optus is the carrier. I have a secondary sim which is used for back up only it has data (limited voice and sms) Telstra is the carrier. I have it set to switch from primary to secondary when there’s a fault as in the carrier has a fault. I would like the secondary sim to send me an sms to alert me that I am now running on secondary sim. I have the teltonika  checking signal/ data to switch back if primary sim is available again.

Hope I have explained this a little better this time.

Hi,

Yes, thank you.

In this case use the event reporting feature. There's an event when the SIM switch happens. If you configure it - SIM2 will send an SMS after the switch.
