Hi,

I upgraded my RUT955 global to FW 7.00.

After that all sms requests like STATUS or GPS are not answered with sms.

I can see that the requesting sms reaches the router but no answer is sent.

Configuration: no authorization and valid for defined group of phone numbers only.

No other changes to config made.

What can be the reason?

Best regards

Tim

Hello,

I have just tried to reproduce your issue but I was unsuccessful. I have updated my RUT9 with the RUT9_R_00.07.00 firmware version and created a simple test group (included only a single number). I have changed the status message configuration to be available only to my test group and to require no authorization. After sending a simple status message to the router, I have received a correct reply. I would like to ask if you could try to reset your router to the factory default configuration and try to configure everything once again. I do believe that something went wrong with the upgrade process and keep settings from older firmware.

Regards.

Thanks for your answer. I was on vacation and couldn't do any tests...

Now I did the factory reset but no change. No sms were sent as answer to sms utilities requests.

I did it several times. But no change.

I then downgraded firmware to 6.08.3 and it worked again. The router sends sms after utility requests.

So I assume there is no issue with my sim or sim provider.

I then upgraded FW to 7.00 again by using RMS (without keeping the settings).

After reboot ot the 955 I turned AutoReply to ON, switched AUTHORISATION to No and tried to request a STATUS by sending an SMS to the 955.

No answer from the 955.

In the logs I can see that the SMS reached the router and the requsted parameters were read internally and the sms text for the answer is prepared:

Tue Sep  7 15:17:19 2021 daemon.info unhandler[3107]: libgsm[src/libgsm_utils.c:88]: text |Router name - RUT955; WAN IP - xx.xxx.xxx.xxx; Data Connection state - Connected; Connection type - LTE; Signal Strength - -81; New FW available - No;|

Then an error is shown:

There seems to be an issue in the firmeware 7.00.

Can you please check this?

Hi,

Could you check which modem firmware version is installed into your router? You can check that by using gsmctl -y command in CLI or by navigating System > FIrmware page.

Hi,

Modem firmware is  EG25GGBR07A07M2G

Kernel Version: 4.14.221

I have sent you an instruction on how to upgrade module FW via private message. Please inform me if that solves the issue.

Hi...I also have this issue on a RUTX11 and FW 7.00...currently have 2 sim cards, on sim 2 STATUS SMS works but not on sim 1.

I physically swapped sim 1 and 2 over expecting it to work but it didn't..is it maybe linked somehow to the APN / network ??

Any ideas appreciated as this is a really useful feature

Hey,

I am running RUT9_R_00.07.00.2 on RUT950 with modem FW EC25ECGAR06A04M1G. I have the same issue. Thanks to this thread I found the logread-command and my problem seems to be caused by parameter %ni:

Thu Oct 28 09:25:38 2021 daemon.info unhandler[2377]: libgsm[src/libgsm_utils.c:1055]: param: ni
Thu Oct 28 09:25:38 2021 kern.info kernel: [ 2100.594199] do_page_fault(): sending SIGSEGV to sms_utils for invalid read access from 00ff6070

Thu Oct 28 09:26:13 2021 kern.notice kernel: sms_utils configuration has been changed

After removing that parameter from reply it works.

And same applies to these commands:

vpnon:
