Hi

Is it possible to configure TELTONIKA RUTXR1 from an USB stick? - so we can configure SIM card APN, login and networking when not on site?

Thanks

Felix

Hello,

Unfortunately, you cannot configure RUTXR1 through the USB port.

Well, to configure your router remotely, first of all, you will need to have some sort of internet connection in the router. After that you could use RMS platform for remote configurations.

Ok and that is the problem, we need to prep SIM APN I would say. Is RMS on as default and how do I provision the config with networking etc.?

By default configuration, the RMS is set to on. Anyway, if your device does not have an internet connection, then it is not a valid option.

But if it does, then you simply connect to the WebUI via RMS and keep on configuring details or upload a backup (also, via RMS).

Ok, so the backup have to be done from the device it self and then it can be restored to any device over RMS?

In general does the SIM card just work, or is configuration needed? like APN etc.

Thanks

Backup can be uploaded only to identical devices. For example, if you have downloaded a backup from a RUT955, you will be able to upload it to RUT955 only and product codes must match. More information about backup restrictions: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT955_Backup#Restore_configuration

Most of the time, auto-configuration is enough for SI Mcard to connect to the network, but it really depends on the network operator. Some of them require specific APN phrases to work.

Ok :( - so no real way to remote provision new devices?
by anonymous
Well without any configuration changes, sadly no. Unless your SIM card will work with default settings then you could do it via RMS. Another solution for that is to purchase devices from Teltonika directly with your custom configuration pre-installed. For that, you will need to contact the sales manager at Teltonika Networks and talk through the details.
