I've seen some scripts and packages that can be added to other devices, but I can't seem to find a way to run a simple speed test remotely on an RUT240 device.

Any suggestions?

Hello,

RUT240 does not have a speed test tool implemented yet. However, you could install an additional package: Iperf3. It is a tool to measure the bandwidth and the quality of a network link. First it should be installed on the device via commands:

opkg update

opkg install iperf3

Regards.

Thanks! That's great to know.

I'm new to this type of router (and networking) in general. Do you mind explaining further what to do once it is installed? What are the commands to run the program and then how do I interpret the results? If there is somewhere you can point me to better understand, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello,

Iperf is a widely used command in networking and you should find a lot of information over the internet. One good source I could think of is: https://iperf.fr/iperf-doc.php
