Having used model RUT950U025A0 for some time we were recently supplied some RUT95000026H0 as the U versions were not available. Having recreated our base configuration (as backups are incompatible) I found during testing that the unit does not respond to SMS commands if the mobile connection uses PPP mode. Switching to QMI mode the SMS commands work fine and sms messages sent while in PPP mode are delivered to the device and can be read but are not actioned. Various firmware verions (old UI) exhibit the same behaviour although the '0' version does not seem to be supported prior to 6.08.xx presumably because of the different cellular modem it uses.

Hello,

Can you share device's Troubleshoot file, please?

Here is the link with the instruction how to download Troubleshoot file from the device: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT950_Administration#Troubleshoot_2

Here is the link how to download Troubleshoot file from the RMS: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/How_to_download_a_router%27s_troubleshoot_file_from_RMS%3F

please note that when you upload TS file in the comment section, you will be available to select option that file would appear only for the administration.

Sincerely, Klaidas

Created simple demonstartion as follows:

Started with brand new device, completed config wizard, setup mobile connection as QMI to EE (note recent firmwares display it as 'EE EE' on all models), created SMS group with single number, configured SMS status command as No Authorisation, from group just created. Send Status sms to device and received response after a few seconds.

Changed mobile connection to PPP, and checked device had reconnected. Sent status sms to device but received no response. After a couple of minutes checked SMS list and message had been received.

Changed mobile connection back to QMI, checked device had reconnected. Sent status sms and status response received as expected.

Dumped troubleshooting file(attached).

Log shows processing of SMSs in QMI mode but no corresponding entries when in PPP mode.

Also of note is that there is a further issue even when using QMI mode (possibly associated) when VPNON and VPNOFF sms messages are sent to this model the relevent OVPN config is set as enabled/disabled as expected but connection/disconnection is not actually actioned (until reboot). With same firmware version on RUT950U002xx the VPN connection is connected or disconnected as requested, although those units are using PPP mode for mobile connection, I have not yet tested it in QMI mode as I currently don't have access to a local RUT950U002xx and can't jeopardise a remote one in the field.

Troubleshooting File

Hello once again,

Thank you for the TS file. While testing I was unable to repeat the issue. To identify the cause of the issue I need to ask you to share a Backup file with the configuration of your device which has the issue.

Here is the link with the instruction on how to download a Backup file from the router: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT950_Backup#Backup_configuration

Here is the link with the instruction on how to download a Backup file from the RMS: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/How_to_download_a_router%27s_configuration_(backup)_file_from_RMS%3F

As requested Backup from device. This is a very simple configuration to demonstrate the issue and was put together as per my earlier reply.

Backup from RUT95000026H0

Hello,

I was unable to replicate the issue. I would like to ask you to upgrade the device's firmware to R_00.06.08.5 version and test if the issue still occurs. If possible, please upgrade firmware without the keep settings option and configure device.

Before upgrading the firmware I recommend saving a backup file.

Regards,
