Hello all

I have a RUT 240 and spend already a lot of hours of figuring out why the mobile connection suddenly altough there is traffic just dies.

i have setup ping reboot also the just reset mobile connection or booting modem but that not really helps because that we do not get an IP from the provider. always an real reboot of the whole router is needed. today i started the debug log and found that there are some kernel errors after few hours....between 2-21h. it varies. and if those errors comes the mobile connection will die and also our ipsec tunnel goes down. than after 15 minute.....ping reboot takes place and the same game starts again over and over..

Current Firmware Information
Firmware version RUT2XX_R_00.01.14.4
Firmware build date 2021-10-11, 07:46:51
Kernel version 3.18.44
Bootloader version 3.2.2

it would be great if there is a solution for that. bevore we had at the same place, same sim card, same mobile connection but a d-link router wihtout any problems ever. i just changed because i needed the ipsec fuctionality from the RU240.

best regards chris

Hello,

Thanks for contacting TELTONIKA | Crowd-support forum.

Please try these options:

Try restoring the device to default factory settings.

You can perform a factory reset via command line by executing the firstboot command. After this you will be asked to confirm the reset. If you're sure, type the letter y and press "Enter" or type the letter n if you wish to cancel the reset. If you agreed to perform a factory reset, next type in reboot and press "Enter".The router will be reset to it's factory settings and rebooted. The entire sequence of events should look like this:

root@Teltonika-RUT240:~# firstboot

This will erase all settings and remove any installed packages. Are you sure? [N/y]

y

/dev/mtdblock5 is mounted as /overlay, only erasing files

root@Teltonika-RUT240:~# reboot

 -  Try  upgrading the firmware to the latest version RUT2_R_00.07.01 without keeping setting.

https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT240_Firmware_Downloads

Please let me know what's the result after performing the options above.

Best regards.

Hello

Many thanks for your response. i did the upgrade to RUT2_R_00.07.01 and it was working for just 1 hour or so.  i than could just connect via ssh and it booted all 2-5 minutes. i took it home and now it reboots endless. factory reset also not possible.

i will do an RMA.

Hello,

Thanks for the update.

Please note that Ping Reboot uses ICMP request to see if a remote endpoint is reachable. If there’s no reply from the endpoint, then the router will reboot itself automatically to try to initiate the connection to see if that would help to resolve the issue. The router will continue rebooted until it gets a response from the endpoint.

More information can be found here:

https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT240_Auto_Reboot#Ping.2FWget_Reboot

In order to check the reason behind the reboot, enter to router’s WebUI, go to status > Event Log > System Event and select Reboot.

If the Ping Reboot is behind the reboot of the router, then you would see under the field of event Request from ping reboot.

More information can be found here:

https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT240_Events_Log#Reboot

Please try to disable Ping reboot and keep monitor the device, if the issue persists then send me the troubleshooting file in a private message.

Best regards,

Yes ping reboot is configured but it would just reboot the rut 240 after 20minutes and not constantly. i also get no ip on LAN or Wifi and the LAN connection just goes all 10-50 seconds. so no chance at all to login to the router. and i can also not do a factory reset. i tried everything.

Hello again,

Please try to reflash the firmware through bootloader menu.

Hello MED
