Hello,

Could you please provide some additional information about your configuration. In particular I'm interested in what protocol is being used, do you redirect to HTTPS for the landing page or use any custom DNS? Additionally, could you please let me know if you use a RADIUS server?

As for the traffic blocking, I'd recommend using the web filter feature with a predefined whitelist. More information about it and how to configure it can be found on our wiki page here: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT950_Web_Filter_(legacy_WebUI)

Best regards,

Tomas.

1. I did not select the any landing page. It is in the default configuration.(http)
2. Dns configuration is also default in both hotspot and dhcp configuration. I did not enter any dns in it.
3. Please also tells what will be the format of host file in web filter feature.

Hello,

This is rather unusual, with no prior configuration the hotspot should work without any issues. Could you please try to upgrade your router firmware version to RUT9XX_R_00.06.08.5 without keeping settings? You can find and download the firmware from our wiki page here: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT950_Firmware_Downloads_(legacy_WebUI)

As for the hosts filter - it is enough to create a simple text file and enter host names of websites you want to keep access for and then use the "Whitelist" option. For example, create a text file and simply write host names that should be allowed/blocked, depending on web filter function:

google.com

facebook.com

and so on. Add each host name in separate line.

Please note that your router does not support the newest (7.1) firmware version so the latest version would be the firmware 06.08.5.

Best regards,

Tomas.

I am also having the same problem:

  • I get to the landing page
  • I am prompted to provide a telephone number
  • I enter my phone number (without country code works, I was surprised to find)
  • I receive an sms with a 4 digits otp and a link
  • I enter the 4 digits
  • there is a rather lenghty wait (easily a minute, probably more)
  • I get to a "login failed" page

Could you provide your device and firmware version?

  • RUT9XX_R_00.06.09.2
by anonymous

I have replicated the issue once.

However, after removing the password in Network -> Wireless -> Wireless security tab, I started to connect. Even re - adding the same password, there were no 'failed login' messages. Then again, it might simply require a restart of the wireless interfaces.

Since, currently legacy firmware versions only receive critical security and bug fixes, is there any specific reason you use 06.09.2 instead of current RutOS?

When I click "upgrade" it tells me there's no updates available, how do I go about it?

I got this error:

Legacy-design (RUT950 *G1**) devices could not be upgraded to a firmware version newer than RUT9XX_R_00.07.00.

You have a legacy design device, which means that 06.09.2 is as high as you can update.
