Hi There,

I have a RUTXR1 with two data SIM's connected and no WAN connected.

I want to load balance across both SIMS, but also want Failover in case one SIM fails (they are on different providers).  The Wiki for this unit says you cannot have Failover and Load Balancing configured at the same time.

So, if I have load balancing setup for the two SIMS at a 50/50 ratio, and one of the SIM's goes offline.. what happens? Does 50% of the traffic just time out or does it sense that it is down and send it all to the other SIM? (Thus failover?)

Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for contacting TELTONIKA | Crowd-support forum.

Kindly be informed that just one SIM card can function on the same time.

In order to keep connecting to internet, you can configure SIM switch option.

More information can be found here.

https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUTXR1_Mobile#SIM_Switch

Additionally, RUTX12 with two simultaneously operational LTE Cat 6 modems provides speeds up to 600 Mbps with load balancing feature.

More information can be found here.

Should you need any additional information please let us know.

Best regards

Ouch. I have only just purchased the RUTXR1 because I thought I could run two Sims at once. This is seriously bad news.

Hello again,

Here's the link to configure Load balancing in RUTXR1 using multiple WAN interfaces.

The main advantage of RUTXR1 that is equipped with a combo port. it’s possible to connect to internet via copper or fiber optic (SFP) directly without the need of a converter, when one of the ports is activated, the other port is automatically disabled.
