I have a RUT950 router using wired wan with static IP and a 4G mobile as a failover, but it still loses wan connection at exactly 15 minute intervals. Connection is lost until reboot. The router is at a remote location and I can't always have physical access to it so I have set up automatic ping rebooting. So far I have not found a setting that has any effect on the disconnects. Always disconnected 15 minutes after reboot and then five minutes downtime before the ping reboot kicks in.

I am quite sure the problem is somewhere in the routers settings, but I can't for the life of me find what it is.

As a "First Aid" you should be able to reduce the ping interval, and the number of pings to fail before reboot. Unfortunately, I could only better direct you when running"official" openwrt.

Second, it looks like some speciality of your WAN-provider. You might check the RUTs log files for irregularities, regarding loss of WAN.

Some providers switches time out in case of no tcp-connection active for some time. Thus, also RUTs standard OS should have an option, to periodically establish a http(s) connection to a web service, to request some data. If not, write a small script yourself and schedule it  using cron, every minute.

Hello

Thanks for contacting TELTONIKA | Crowd-support forum.

Please make sur that the IP address you have assigned to wan wired is not duplicated in your DHCP pool or assigned to another device.

Additionally, try to downgrade your firmware version to RUT9_R_00.07.00.2

If this doesn’t work or you have more questions, just let me know, and I’ll be happy to help further!

Best regards,

Thank you for your answers. The problem still perists, but I no longer think there is something wrong with the settings.

I factory reset the router settings, and added the wan ip-address. Wan connection works exactly 15 minutes and then cuts off even when I'm using it. Unplugging and re-plugging the cable immediately restores connection, so now I'm beginning to think the IP-address given to me is used somewhere else. The address was supposed to be assigned for BMS use, but I think there has been a misunderstanding somewhere.

Hello,

If possible, try to use  DHCP protocol instead of static protocol, DHCP is used to set up an interface which obtains its configuration parameters automatically via a DHCP lease.

Best regards.
