Hi, on an RUTX11 I want to use a an OpenVPN via Mullvad. They have a documentation for OpenWRT based routers in https://mullvad.net/en/help/openwrt-routers-and-mullvad-vpn/ which I followed and adapted.

They utilize "auth-user-pass /etc/openvpn/mullvad_client.auth" and use the account number only - so no username and password - just the account number.

I can load the .ovpn config from mullvad into the rutx11 gui ("Enable OpenVPN config from file") and then enable ("Upload OpenVPN authentication files") - which might be the option I want as far as I understand. But when I then enter the account number either as password or as username it won`t work.

Anybody got a working OpenVPN to Mullvad on an RUTx based device?

If this GUI based approach is not supposed to work - can I just edit the VPN config at the cli?

Is there a status page for a succesfully established OpenVPN tunnel to have a glance wheter its okay or not? Is it currently missing (like the Wireguard status?

Thanks for any help with this!

Hello,

Can you detail if vpn's status appears connected or disconnected in the WebUI after you were executed the steps?

Try to disable "Upload OpenVPN authentication files" option in the configuration and then check if vpn's status appears as connected. If VPN tunnel will not work with disabled OpenVPN authentication files, make sure you have created your credentials file via router's SSH in /etc/openvpn/mullvad_client.auth directory and edited your OpenVPN config file by editing the line "auth-user-pass" to auth-user-pass /etc/openvpn/mullvad_client.auth before uploading it.

Here are the links on how to use the SSH:

I will be waiting for your feedback.

Regards,

Hi,
Please check your config on Windows PC using OpenVPN application (Example: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/OpenVPN_client_on_Windows). If it works, try to upload that file to the router.
If it will be necessary to do changes in router command line, examples how to do this you can find here: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/Shell_Commands
