I am looking for information to understand if I have setup my port forwarding rules correctly.  Here are some questions about the setup...

Is the only setting I need to make is in the Port Forwarding section?

Do I need to create rule in the Traffic Rules?

Also, some basic understanding would be helpful.  Like, is it possible to Forward from the Public IP to a LAN IP?  I see the diagram located on your website that shows a WAN IP to ISP to Public IP.  This is something I am unfamiliar with, and curious if it is a basic wireless LTE configuration.  referencing the website below.

To answer your first question, the only setting you need to make for port forwarding is in the port forwarding section. This is where you will specify the ports that need to be forwarded and the LAN IP address of the device that should receive the forwarded traffic.

Regarding your second question, if you have already set up the port forwarding rules correctly, then you do not need to create any additional rules in the Traffic Rules section.

In terms of your third question, it is possible to forward traffic from a public IP to a LAN IP. This is a common practice for allowing external access to devices or services hosted within a private network. The diagram you mentioned in the Teltonika Networks website represents a typical network architecture where a private network is connected to the internet through a router with a public IP address assigned by an ISP.

Wireless LTE networks typically use a similar network architecture where the LTE modem serves as the router connecting the private network to the internet through a public IP address assigned by the cellular network provider. However, the specifics of the configuration may vary depending on the wireless provider and the equipment used.

Hi,

If your RUT240 WAN interface has public IP address then yes, it's possible to port forward from Public IP to LAN IP.

It's only needed to create a port forwarding rule in Port Forwarding section, there's no need to create additional Traffic rules.

Let me know if you'll need any additional help with port forwarding.

Thank you.  I have updated the RUT240 to version 1.14.3 and I have set the port forwarding rule.  As of now, I do not have an open port according to https://www.ipfingerprints.com/portscan.php Open Port scanner.  I have set the device to static LAN, and created the port forwarding rule.  I can see the RUT is showing a WAN IP and my computer is showing a different Public IP.  I assume this relates to the diagram (https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/Private_and_Public_IP_Addresses) showing RUT grabs a WAN IP to connect to ISP tower, and then ISP provide a public IP.  Since my port forwarding rule is not working, is it possible the ISP is blocking this port?

It seems that your ISP doesn't give out public IP addresses to end devices.

For port forwarding to work, WAN interface of your router must have a public IP address, it won't work if only upstream router in your ISP network has public IP.

I'd suggest you to call your ISP to inquire if they provide public IP's to end clients, it might be a paid service or configuring custom APN might be sufficient.
