If this forum supported a CAPTCHA before posting comments, it would slow the spam down considerably. Alternatively, if a post received a minimum of 3 downvotes (-3 score or lower), automatically hide the post, and flag for moderator review.

Right now there are three spammers actively polluting the forum with posts at almost precisely 2-minute intervals: /user/drcreater (24 posts, 24 downvotes), /user/Fiona (18 posts, 18 downvotes) and /user/Hunnie (10 posts, 10 downvotes), all with accounts only 2 hours old.

A CAPTCHA would slow them down, or getting them pushed into a moderator queue after 'n' number of simultaneous downvotes.

Thoughts?

Hello,

We will for sure check for what measures could be taken as CAPTCHA is already used and does not really help. Thanks for the ideas.

A few other ideas:

- as the number of users doesn't increase that fast allow only one post for a new account until a moderator allows more or ban it,
- ban a "new" account if a post/series of posts gather three or more downvotes and/or flags.

I am not very convinced by CAPTCHAS, they will annoy frequent posters/commenters.
