Hello,

Our router RUT240 is the most simple and low-cost router in our catalog. It allows 4G cellular connection and WAN up to 10/100 Mbps. It allows a 2.4 GHz wireless connection and has a hotspot function for your passengers if you wish.

For more information about the RUT240 visit the following link:

Is it possible to restrict bandwidth to users?
by anonymous

You can do this in the users and groups settings if you use the hotspot option. Here is a link to what you can do with this option.

You could also do it with the Traffic Shaping feature. Where you would restrict the speed of all users connected to the WIFI network. Here is another link to what this configuration would look like.

Hello

Is it possible to use some of the digital inputs of the RUT955 as a pulse counter?

Does the GPS of this router have an odometer?

In general, does the RUT955 have some of the features of the Teltonika trackers? Such as the FMB130

Hello,

It is possible to use digital inputs for different purposes. Normally they are used to activate digital or analog outputs or certain types of actions. (reboot, activate wifi, send SMS or email). There is an option to run a script after receiving a digital input, you could make a script that adds to a variable after each activation and print the value by shell console. Then, you could check this value by logging into the router. Another option would be counting after posting text messages or emails after receiving the Digital Input.

Here is a link with more information about the actions and I/O pins of the RUT955.

Regarding the odometer. The GPS function of the RUT955 can not measure kilometers traveled. Its function is mainly to identify where the device is located, and It does this by locating the coordinates of the device. They can be sent to a server or stored in the router. You can estimate kilometers traveled with these coordinates. However, for these more specific tracking functions, it is advisable to use the FMB130, since it has better integration with the vehicle's functionalities.

Likewise, here you have the information about the GPS functionalities of our RUT955.

What is the unobstructed router coverage?

Can I connect a higher gain antenna to increase coverage? Any suggestions?

The range and quality of a wireless signal largely depend on the location and environmental conditions that may or may not interfere with the signal.

Below are rough estimates of maximum WiFi range, concluded from tests done on Teltonika-Networks RUT routers:

  • up to 100 meters in LoS (Line of Sight)
  • up to 25 meters in buildings

You can use one of our additional antennas to extend this range. Here is a link to the ones we have available.

The users and passwords that the router assigns to each user for the WIFI service, can be used by other devices at the same time? Is it possible to configure the equipment to prevent this from happening?

I want to charge the WIFI service to the passengers of the bus service, and the idea is that only those who are authorized access can use it.

To restrict devices for users you would have to use a Radius server for authentication. In the case of a Radius Windows server, there is a Caller ID function, which links the MAC to the user and password used. The RUT240 can configure a Radius server for authentication. Here is a link with the information.

Hello

Is it possible to configure the RUT 955 or RUT240 when used as a hotspot (WIFI), so that the landing page  displays direct links to one or more URL's within the same local network? For example, a multimedia platform running on a PC within the LAN?

Hey,

It is possible to modify the Landing page with different, images, URLs, or text. This is done by modifying the files attached to the landing page. Here is a link with more information about the hotspot home page.

Hello

I want to implement a media center in my home using the PLEX platform.

I downloaded plex media server on a Western Digital My Cloud Expert Ex2 Ultra series NAS, and I have connected it to one of the LAN ports of my  RUT955, additionally, I have enabled the hotspot on the router.

I need that from their mobile devices( not necessarily from the internet) , the hotspot users connect to PLEX ( on the NAS). I have tried a few things but have not succeeded.

From my laptop connected to one of the LAN ports on the router I can reach the RUT955 and the NAS.

The network segment on the LAN side is 192.168.100.X and on the hotspot. 192.168.2.X.

Any suggestions?
