Hi,

I have a client who needs a "create PDP" session in under 50 seconds from a cold boot up of the modem. Assuming that there is good strong RSSI in the area, are there other services that we can turn off on the RUT240, other than the security ones, which will improve this?

Thanks!

Hello,

Modem connection times are usually less than 30 seconds. However, this will depend on how long it takes for the provider to register you on their network. So it will always depend on the provider's signal and settings. Something that can help to establish a session faster is to configure an APN directly and not in Auto mode as it comes by default.

Boot up alone can take over a minute, prior to carrier acquisition/registration as it boots up the various services on the modem/router. Especially at colder temps. Any help on what services can be disabled to speed boot time?

You cannot do much to speed up the start-up of the system. One thing that you could do is to disable all unnecessary services and keep only things that you need to use for your use case. You can check all running services on the latest firmware by navigating router WebUIStatusServices.

What are the unnecessary services I guess is what I am asking.. :)  Or can a custom boot be written that might be faster and loaded on the linux OS?

Custom boot will not be available, as you must modify the installed firmware and it is not possible. Regarding the essential services it depends on the use you are going to give it. Do you need active VPN? Bluethoot? RMS? You can see the services displayed there, if you are not using them you can turn them all off. The basic services like interfaces and WIFI are activated automatically.
