Hello,

I have a RUT955 connected to my LAN which accesses to the Internet through another WAN router.

Also, I have an active SIM card in slot 1.

When I try to setup a failover, I'm not able to create a rule to fail on the Mobile network when the access to the Internet through the other device is not available.

If I'm disabling the WAN interface and add eth1 to the physical part of the LAN interface, should the failover work ?

Sincerely, I'm a little bit lost...

If I should clarify my request, please let me know.

Peter

Hi Peter,

So let me see if i understood it correctly:

  • Your RUT955 LAN port is connected to another router LAN port, and this router has internet access
  • So you want to use your LAN port as WAN port, and configure failover with mobile network
Honestly, the easiest way to make it work is connecting the RUT955 WAN port to your other router LAN port, then you can enable failover without a issue.
But if you really want to use the RUT955 LAN port as WAN port, you can do the following:
1- Go to Network -> Vlan, choose what LAN port is going to be the WAN port. In this case i've choose LAN 3 to be the WAN, click on the "Add" button, then on the new line change the LAN 3 port to "Untagged", and on the first line, change it to "Off", click on "Save & Apply", your setup should look like this: https://community.teltonika-networks.com/?qa=blob&qa_blobid=6429264915772482471
2- Go to Network -> Interfaces, on the bottom give a name to the new interface and click on "Add", in this case i gave the name "WAN2".
3- When the page refreshes, click on the pencil next to your new interface, and when the settings open, you have to select the protocol, your other router probably work as DHCP server, so select "DHCP" on the protocol. Then go to "Physical Settings" and on "Interface" select eth0.3 (in my case, because i choose LAN 3, if you choose LAN 2, it will be eth0.2). After that, click on "Save & Apply".
4- Go to Network -> Failover, and there you will be able to see your new interface, and enable its Failover feature, it should look like this: https://community.teltonika-networks.com/?qa=blob&qa_blobid=15087526421105630741.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Best regards.
