Hi, I'm using the TRB255 with firmware version TRB2_R_00.07.01.4.

I have configured the device to be connected to the Cloud of Things by using the supplied package.

I want to send data to the CoT, e.g. modbus or gpio events, but can't find any solution to do this, all I can see is general information about the device if I look at my device in the CoT.

Is there any solution for this?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

There is an option in the router to send the data like Modbus, DNP3 to the server,

you can use "DATA TO SERVER" option to send the data to server.

for the configuration purpose follow link below:

Thanks for your answer, but I can't see how this can be used to send the data to the Cloud of Things as the procedure this requires does not seem to be configurable in any way with the data to server options.

Hello,

You will need to go to Advance Mode to find the option " Data To Server ".

Click on the " Basic " option on the top right corner to switch to " Advance " Mode.

I know how to get there.

The problem is, that I don't understand how these configuration options would allow me to send the data to the Cloud of Things. From what I understand, the device has to at least provide certain credential information for the CoT and this doesn't seem to be possible when configuring "Data to Server".

Hello,

In order to assist you better can you please let me know

what kind of data are you trying to send to the server?

From what devices are you trying to send data ?

If possible can you explain the topology.

I followed the steps described in https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/Cloud_of_Things and have my device connected to the CoT.

If possible, I want to transfer analogue voltage input and modbus RTU data via RS485 (from the modbus serial master package) to the cloud of things.

Hello,

To send the Modbus data to server using serial interface (RS485) you will need to configure 2 services on the Router:

1. Modbus Serial Master

2. Data to server

1. Modbus serial Master: Install package: Modbus Serial Master from package Manager.

Follow link for detail: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/TRB255_Modbus#RS485

You will need to configure the RS485 section in Modbus Serial Master only and not RS485 section.

They both are same service.

Modbus Serial Master will collect data from the slave devices and store in the Router's Memory.

2. Data to server: This feature will send data to the specified server.

Follow link for detail: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/TRB255_Data_to_Server

For data transfer to Cloud of Things server you will need to create a URL for the device from CoT Application.

For sending analog signals to the server you can use the Action Feature under Input/Output under Services page.

Thanks for your detailed answer, but there is one thing I still don't understand:

For data transfer to Cloud of Things server you will need to create a URL for the device from CoT Application.

What is the "CoT Application" and how do I create an URL for the device with it?

@Shivang

We can't use the "Data to Server" feature unless we get access to some information that the Cloud of Things package has stored on the device. We don't know how to access this information in the "Data to Server" configuration dialogue.

We would use the Measurement API to transfer Modbus data to the Cloud of Things, but we need the following information to be able to authenticate the request and assign the transferred data to the correct device:

  • The CoT managed-object ID of the device
  • The CoT password of the device
  • The CoT username of the device

Do you know how we can access this information in the "Data to Server" configuration dialogue?

Hello,

TRB255 sends limited information to the Cloud of Things, such as:

Device Data - Device Model, Revision and Serial Number

Mobile data - Mobile Cell ID, ICCID, IMEI, Connection Type, Operator, Signal Strength

Network info - IP

Availability

There are plans to implement more functionalities and features with Cloud of Things in near future.

However, there is no exact timeline for this.

If you want to implement more functionality now, you will need to contact Teltonika sales for additional development.
