Hello,
I cannot see anything on the Package Manager page on my RUT240 with FW RUT240_R_00.07.02.1.
Internet connection is available.

Is this a known issue?

Thanks,
M

Hello,

Sometimes when you enter the Packet Manager page only the downloaded packets are shown. If you don't have any package it appears blank. Now, if you click the refresh button below it, it should load the packages for download.

Hi,
also after clicking on the refresh button the list is empty. I confirm that I don't have any downloaded packets.

Just to confirm - do you have internet connection on your device, including properly configured DNS servers on the WAN interface? Any issues related to package manager usually occur due to no internet connection or access to DNS servers.

Instructions on how to login to the router via CLI (SSH/Telnet) can be found on our wiki here: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT240_CLI and here: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/Command_Line_Interfaces#SSH

To confirm whether you have internet connection, you may try to login to the router via CLI (SSH/Telnet) and issue the following commands (interrupt the ping sequence by hitting the CTRL+C buttons on keyboard):

ping 1.1.1.1

ping google.com

If both of these confirm that there's internet connectivity and the domain names are being resolved (DNS works), another method to potentially resolve the issue would be to issue this command via CLI manually:

opkg update

After issuing this command the router should update its list of available packages. Once that's done, re-check if the package manager has changed.

If that doesn't help, by far the best and fastest course of actions would be to reset router to default settings and see if that helps.

Yes, the connectivity is the first thing that I checked and it is ok.

opkg update returns the following result:

root@RUT240_0000:~# ping google.com

Do we need to check specific ports to be open for the package manager?

Hello,

It seems that the package manager can't get packages from the server which is FOTA. Head over to your Firmware configuration page, select FOTA configuration and ensure it's enabled.

If it is enabled and does not work, could you try these options and tell me if anything changes:

  • Try rebooting your router.
  • Check for any traffic rules or anything where your firewall could block connection?
  • Could you try switching your network interfaces? If you're using mobile or using wired wan, change to the opposite one.
  • If anything above does not help - try resetting your router.

I have tried all the suggested steps, but none fixed the issue.
Only after a factory reset I am able to see the list of the packets.

The devices was upgraded from FW RUT2XX_R_00.01.14.5; could the issue been related on that?
by anonymous
Hey,

It is possible that after doing the upgrade some file or process initiation got stuck. Anyway, good to hear that the packages are now appearing.

I have the same issue:

Downloading https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/21.02.0/packages/mips_24kc/vuci/Packages.gz
*** Failed to download the package list from https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/21.02.0/packages/mips_24kc/vuci/Packages.gz
Browsing downloads.openwwrt.org it looks like there is now 'vuci' sub directory but there is 'luci':
is there a possible fix to this?

Hi, I have the same problem. I have also tried to factory reset my RUT240 but with the same result.

VUCI packages are no longer available for download from official OpenWRT website, however, the search for vuci packages was not removed from opkg update command and thus this is the error you get because of the missing page on the server. This does not impact the downloads of official Teltonika packages.

by anonymous
Ok, but I had a big problem before I got an updated list of packages.

I had to reset the device multiple time after the uppgrade from claissic UI to the new.
