I have a TRB255 which, for now at least, I am using only with Ethernet.

How can I completely disable the mobile functions?

I have mob1s1a1 and mob1s2a1 both turned off on under "Network Interfaces" but my system logs are still full of "modem_init" logs.

I am trying to achieve two objectives. First to reduce power consumption, and secondly to avoid filling the logs with irrelevant errors.

Hello,

You can try to access the device via SSH and enter the following command:

  • /etc/init.d/gsmd disable

Thanks. That got rid of the modem_init logs but instead I then got:

daemon.err dfota[4515]: Failed to find gsmd ubus object
daemon.err dfota[4515]: GSMCTL error: reading message

every 10 seconds.

If I also disable dfota those errors go too, is there any reason I shouldn't disable it?

Hello,

DFOTA is a functionality, which allows to update firmware of the modem module over the air. Considering, that mobile is unnecessary in your case, you can disable it.

That's great, thanks for confirming.

For the same reasons as @msl-mark I tried to stop the errors with stopping 'gsmd' and 'dfota' but still getting errors:

Wed Jul 20 12:00:26 2022 daemon.err ledman[4481]: Failed to find gsmd ubus object
Wed Jul 20 12:00:38 2022 daemon.err ledman[4481]: Failed to find gsmd ubus object
Wed Jul 20 12:00:50 2022 daemon.err ledman[4481]: Failed to find gsmd ubus object
Wed Jul 20 12:01:02 2022 daemon.err ledman[4481]: Failed to find gsmd ubus object
Wed Jul 20 12:01:14 2022 daemon.err ledman[4481]: Failed to find gsmd ubus object
etc

Did not expect all these kind of errors after setting the switch for mobile to 'off' in "network interfaces".
