Hello,

On the paper it says 240 supports up to 50 Wifi users. Is this true?

We want to support 50 wifi users plus connect industrial computer, check telemetry data, upload some media to display on the screens and differ LTE usage for our machine and 3g for users? Is this possible or too much for 240? Moving vehicle

Should we try 955 or 360?

I would appreciate a quick answer. Thank you

Hello,

Although no such tests have been completed with Teltonika devices, it is unlikely that RUT240 or 955, would support that many simultaneous users and provide reliable connectivity. Wireless 802.11n standard, supported by the discussed devices, has an upper limit of 2007 associated clients, but there are limits set by available bandwidth, WAN source, CPU capacity, equipment distance from the access point.

To sum up, you could test it, though, in practice, significantly worse performance should be expected.

RUT950 supports up to 100 users, is that not correct? Which device do you suggest in our case then?

Hello,

RUT950 can indeed support up to 100 connected WiFi users. However, as mentioned, you have to be aware that the available bandwidth is split between those 100 users and the end user experience may be unsatisfactory due to slow speed, and increased latency. Then again, it is rare that all of the users are using the network in full capacity at the same time, and a possibility to access the internet is better than no access at all. Besides, RUT950 have been used in busses before. An example use case is described here.

Another thing to note is that it is not possible for the modem to operate at LTE and 3G modes simultaneously. A better way to differentiate your traffic is to simply create a separate guest WiFi network for the vehicle passengers and set limits on maximum uplink/downlink speeds to leave bandwidth for your machine.

As for the device choice, you can go with RUT950.
