To read data over USB to serial is possible with RUT955 and RUTX10
You need to do the correct settings in each router.
On Rutx10 enable USB to serial service. Go to Services >> USB Tools >> USB to serial
Add a new instance,
Set the serial type – Over IP
Mode – Server
Port – Set your preferred port (Remember to open this port on the firewall)
Add Wan interface in IP filter
On RUT955 enable RS232 interface Services >> RS232 and set
Serial type – Over IP
Mode – Server
Port – Set your preferred port.
Add wan interface in IP filter
For testing purposes, you can use Hercules Application. Make sure your PC is connected to RUT955 LAN port and has internet connection.
Open Hercules application on your PC. Select TCP client mode, enter RUTX Public IP and port xxxx and connect.
Open one more Hercules application on your PC. Select TCP client mode, enter RUT955 LAN IP address, set port xxxx and connect. You should be able to send messages from one Hercules app to another via RS232 to USB.
To read data over console on RUT955 Services >> RS232 enable RS232 and make sure you set the correct baud rate.
On your PC choose the correct COM.
