Hi

I am using a RUTX09 in a external mount for 4G internet backup, but I appear to be getting wildy varying speeds within a few minutes of each test. I've just got 4mbps down, 22mbps up, 2 minutes prior I got 6mbps down, 7mbps up. The antenna is on a pole mount outside and the UI is reporting a -81 to -76dbm signal. Details from the connection overview are below. The antenna is not directional - is there anything I can do to improve this? Thanks!

Hello,

Your signal metrics appear to be between fair to poor, which might explain the varying connection quality.

The options to try are:

  • Different frequency band: Try setting band 7, for example, and see the results.
  • Directional antenna: It might provide additional gain to boost signal reception.
  • Update device firmware. You can download the latest firmware here.
  • Update modem firmware. You can check for instructions here.

Best regards,
