Changed a cheap HUAWEI B-628 with TELTONIKA RUT360. The download speed was 150, now is only 5. What could be the reason? Same SIM and same location. With the old FIRMWARE, the RUT360 didn't even connected to internet.

Hello,

Could you enquire your provider's APN and try to set the APN value manually? You can do it by navigating to Network -> Interfaces and pressing Edit on the mobile interface. In the newly open window disable Auto APN slider button and enter the custom value.

If this does not help, I would like you to attach a troubleshoot file to your question. Please, replicate the issue, then access router's WebUI, go to System -> Administration > Troubleshoot section and download troubleshoot file from there.

Best regards,

Added the troubleshoot report..... Just to update.... I had a remote support from the seller. Everything seems to be fine but the performances are still very poor. Tried also to change the APN manually... nothing is happening. Hope you can help me.

Could you access the WebUI and navigate to Network -> Mobile -> General.

There in the Band selection add B3 in LTE bands line. See if that changes your speeds.

Also, are both antennas attached to the device, as they have different functions for the best quality reception.

One more thing you can try is to update the modem firmware. Just keep in mind that for this, you will need to connect router to a different WAN source, wireless or wired. The instructions are as follows:

  • Access your device via SSH and execute the following commands:
    • opkg update
    • opkg install modem_updater
    • opkg install sshfs
    • modem_updater -g
  • The last command will list available firmware versions. Next modify the following command:
    • modem_updater -i <ID> -v <VERSION>
      • <ID> - should be 1-1, however, in case of an error you should be shown a correct ID.
      • <VERSION> - enter the latest firmware version from the list of the previously executed command, it should be EG06ELAR04A08M4G.

Followed your suggestions...nothing happens changing the bands....the antennas are correctly connected.

Referrring to the firmware, I have updated it at the latest version following a different procedure found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWhp_njlXdY

Tried several different firmwares..... still the same problem. I am very disappointed... I am sending everything back to the seller. Loss of time and money. Thanks again for helping!

You have updated the firmware of the router.

The modem module has a separate firmware, which requires a different update procedure, described in my previous comment.

One thing to note, the procedure applies for firmwares 7.2 and above.

Ok, I have followed your suggestion. The only problem is that the SSH procedure to update the modem firmware it's a bit complex for me. How can I connect the RUT360 to another WAN? Is there a tutorial to follow, please?

This is the error that I got sending the command "opkg update" in the CLI section of the GUI:

Collected errors:

This error can be ignored as it refers to a non existent directory in the update script.

Other WAN means that the router is provided with internet access by an ethernet cable to WAN port or is connected as a client to another access point, like in this example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INGKWNqnZZ0.

OK, I am very disappointed, sending the RUT360 back. Very bad experience!
