Question

All of a sudden my (2 or 3 month old) RUT951 completely died. It doesn't blink any light at all.

Of course I checked the power connection first, but it seems fine.

What can be the cause of this?

That's very strange behavior. Have you tried restarting it? Access it via ssh? or try to perform a bootloader menu? Here are the steps for the bootloader menu where you can reflash the firmware of the device.
