Hello

Our company has been using your devices (>300 devices) for a long time with OpenWrt firmware since that is our IT-policy.

However we can no longer use the devices we recently bought (RUT955 with bootloader 4.0.7 as stock fw) since we cannot change the firmware any longer since you updated the bootloader to check the checksum.

If we are to continue to use your devices there have to be a solution to upload openwrt firmware to them. Otherwise we will discontinue, return the devices and change to another manufacturer that honors the usage of own built solutions rather than taking open source and packaging it closed source.

How can we upload our own built OpenWrt firmware/openwrt "stock" to the devices that are now shipped with the new bootloader?

Here's the response fron RnD:

If firmware couldn't be flashed through Web it can be flashed through console (SSH) with "sysupgrade -F /tmp/FILE_PATH" command.

Thank you. That would be the solution, I still don't understand why the functionality is limited via the bootloader however.

Recent batches had RS232 serial interface IC and RS485 TX line control logic changed. The bootloader was updated to support the new hardware.
