Hello, i have a Rut240 on a part of my lan and a Rut955 on another building. usually i use these two routers just like local switches and they are connected to each other (on same lan) trough a radiolink connection from one building to the other. This way i have all ma same Lan 192.168.1.xxx all connected, i can see all my pc on the 2 trunk of the radio connected routers.

I would like, when the radiolink goes down, to have the routers connected trough a bridged openvpn i have up and working on the mobile wan of the 2 routers.

If i use radiolink OR openvpn it all works but if i have both connected there is aloop and the link doesn't work.

How can i setup a configuration that uses whatever link is present and both if they are both up?

Hope i have been clear enough, if not any answer will be promptly answred.

regards,

Corrado

Hello,

Perhaps when both connections are up, there are multiple routes to the same subnet.

Can you provide a screenshot of one of the routers routing tables when both connections are up? (blur out any public IPs, if they are visible in the tables)

@Dziugas l was thinking about the same. l guess metric also the same but pointing to the different interface (LAN and VTI). But it is only my guess. Routing table output will give us more info.

I tried today but when both connections are up i can't reach the routers.

What i want to accomplish is a double connection that acts as a failover.

Anyway i think it is pointing to same net but on different interfaces, what i try to accomplish is these two interface to collaborate if both up or one makes all the work if the other goes down.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi again, I would like to help, but you haven't provided sufficient information. I asked you earlier for a screenshot of your routing table. You will be able to do that if you login to the router via CLI (how to info: https://wiki.teltonika.lt/index.php?title=Command_line_interfaces).

When you login, type the command route and print screen the output.

Another thing that would help if you drawn your topology (the structure of your network) including used IP address (private, not public).

Here my configuration. I did not blur public ip since they are dynamic on sims on both routers.

Topology and route command.

Hi,

Sorry for not getting back to this question for a long time. Have you managed the connection ?

No, i didn't manage to solve my issues.

Please do not answer in another 2 months, it sounds like a joke :)

Since both LANs are in the same sub-network, you could try using OpenVPN TAP (Bridge) mode. This will not add any additional routes and should work whether your radiolink connection is up or not. Just make sure the routers have different LAN IPs (in the same subnet, but different IPs).

You can find instructions on configuring OpenVPN TAP here.

Already tried that but it forms a loop and everything locks up.
