The device was bought 2 years ago in the USA and shipped to Ghana. Didn't know the American version is different from Africa version. I would like to know if there's a way to make it work in Ghana since i cannot return it. Thank you

The integrated modem will be the issue, most likely. As US uses special frequencies for LTE, opposed to Europe and Africa.

You might be able to exchange the Quectal EC25, to be used in US, against another variant.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us!

Unfortunately, there is very little chance to get US specification RUT955 to work in Africa or Europe, as in the US they use completely different LTE and 3G bands.

For example, ordering codes mean for the US market RUT955 W***** and RUT955 J***** only supports B2, B4, B5, B12, B13, B14, B66, and B71 of the LTE spectrum, while European and African model supports B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, B20, B38, B40, B41. Band 5 does overlap, but it is very rarely used and depends on Your carrier. You can check what bands your carrier uses here.

For any additional information about band support for RUT955 you can visit this site:

https://teltonika-networks.com/product/rut955/ and go to the Ordering tab.

I'd recommend checking out our African variants of RUT955 here: https://teltonika-networks.com/product/rut955/ (Ordering tab has region-specific information).

Purchasing one of our modems and connecting it via USB is also an option, but it will require configuration using AT commands, so I would only recommend this if you're familiar with using them.

Modem offerings can be found here: https://teltonika-networks.com/products/modems/

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
