Hello,

I would like you to send me a troubleshoot file in a private file. Please, replicate the issue, then access router's WebUI, go to System -> Administration -> Troubleshoot section and download troubleshoot file from there. The logs in the file may provide more details into possible causes of the issue.

However, the suggestion might follow to perform modem update as instructed below.

Best regards,

Hello,

I would like you to try to update modem firmware. You can find the procedure described here.

In your case:

  • <ID> - should be 1-1, however, in case of an error you should be shown a correct ID.

  • <VERSION> - enter the latest firmware version from the list of the previously executed command, it should be EG12EAPAR01A12M4G.

If alternative WAN source is not available, use the following instructions:

  • Download the firmware zip from this link.
  • Extract the contents of the zip to a separate folder, for example, Update. Delete PDF with Chinese symbols as it might cause issues.
  • Copy the Update folder to a USB drive or, if you have available space, using WinSCP, copy it to the router's /tmp directory.
  • As instructed previously, download modem_updater and sshfs.
  • If the folder is stored in USB, attach the USB drive to the router, and execute the following command:
    • modem_updater -i 1-1 -p /mnt/sda1/Update/
  • If the folder is placed in /tmp directory, the command should look like this:
    •  modem_updater -i 1-1 -p /tmp/Update/
  • The rest of the update should happen automatically.

Best regards,

Thanks, will try this. In which package the modem_updater bin is? The RUTX14 does not have it installed by default.

Sorry, was blind.

Access your device via SSH and execute the following commands:

  • opkg update
  • opkg install modem_updater
  • opkg install sshfs
  • modem_updater -g

So finally managed to upgrade the firmware. The update package was too large for the flash, so had to use sshfs to present the image to RUTX14 and after that the upgrade was successful. Now running:

Firmware version RUTX_R_00.07.02.7

After update to Internal modem firmware from EG12EAPAR01A09M4G to EG12EAPAR01A12M4G the issue has been fixed. No more random disconnects. Thanks!

Hello,

thx for your information regarding modem connection lost with rutx14, Microsoft Teams and how to fix it.

As mentioned above it is necessary having a wan-connection (not mobile LTE-connection) to the Internet during the update.

Easiest way is a Ethernet-Cable from the RUTX14-WAN-Port to your home-router.

After the command "modem_updater -g" you will get the concrete <ID> of the modem and the available firmware<Versions>.

You should find the <ID> in format "x-y", for example "1-1" and the firmware versions in these example format "EG12EAPAR01A12M4G". Execute the following command with your <ID> and the latest <Version>.

modem_updater -i <ID> -v <VERSION>

Cheers André

Hi,

I need to do an offline upgrade of the internal modem FW on my RUTX14 but the link to the FW zip file above appears to be dead.

Is there another location I can download this FW from?
