Hello.

I would like to ask a question about using RUT950 as an MQTT bridge.

My infrastructure is as follows.

I have a building with two floors. Inside the house there are wireless BLE gateways. One on every room.

The visitors are going to wear BLE beacons (neckbands), that are going to advertise themselves every 3 seconds.

The goal is, the BLE gateways to transmit MQTT messages through a wireless LAN, that is already installed, to a central point (server) that is far away from the house. The access points are going to be connected to the router ports using UTP cables.

In order to achieve that, I'm planning to use RUT950 as an MQTT bridge. It is going to receive the MQTT messages from the gateways and relay them, through the cellular network, in another broker (installed on the server).

Is this plan supported by RUT950?

I have seen (https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT240_MQTT_(legacy_WebUI)) that I have to put a "Remote Address" in bridge mode. Is this only an IP or can I use a domain (in case the public IP of the server is a dynamic one)?

Hi,

Domain names are accepted in the configuration for MQTT Bridge.  However, BLE data from the BLE Beacons is read in Bluetooth not MQTT.  Unfortunately, the RUT950 does not support the Bluetooth.  So, if the BLE Gateways are capable of translating and sending the data via MQTT, it should work.  I am also providing a link for more information regarding the RUT950.

Hello.

Yes, the BLE gateways are sending the MQTT messages based on the Bluetooth connection between them and neckbands.
Thank you for your time.

Regards.
