Putting router in to recover mode and going to the URL http://192.168.1.1/
(can't login as normal, doesn't accept the password which worked before!)

I get the option to upload the firmware -
I've downloaded the latest - RUT9_R_00.07.02.7_WEBUI.bin - from teltonika website.
I've checked the MD5 Hash on the file, and it matches perfectly (see below)

But, when I [upload firmware] it comes back Error: Incorrect checksum.

Maybe the bootloader is corrupt and can't check the MD5 correctly, but I can't find the Boot Loader image file anywhere on the Teltonika site.

Any ideas, otherwise gona bin this thing? It's proven really unreliable!
(fyi, I have another that won't even load the default menu properly!)

Windows>
   certutil -hashfile RUT9_R_00.07.02.7_WEBUI.bin MD5
   MD5 hash of RUT9_R_00.07.02.7_WEBUI.bin:
   f95750f2d95cda5fe7457a07b70faa95
   CertUtil: -hashfile command completed successfully.

I've since downloaded ALL the v7 .bin files - every single one fails the checksum. Someone please help.
Where is the bootloader image file? Or looks like there are diagnostic connectors on the motherboard? can these be used to upload the .bin file to the /etc folder?

Hello,

It might be that one of your device's internal files got corrupted. Could you connect to the router's CLI/SSH (for instructions please refer here), execute the following command and post the output:

  • hexdump -C /dev/mtd1

Best regards,

Hi Zygi, great tip, but root password no longer works - don't know if there is something on the motherboard that can be done to 'zap' it back to admin/admin01 ? I've tried all the reset button timings, plus the bootloader image (checksum error) see intro.

Hi,

What is the current firmware version Router is using?
by anonymous
It came from the supplier on 06... so first thing was to upgrade it to 07.02.3, which worked fine. (This is the version my pre-made config was made on)
once the config was loaded, I couldn't log back in, so tried the factory reset from http://192.168.1.1/index, but get the checksum error.

Try RUT9XX_R_00.06.08.6 via bootloader menu.
You can download it from the below link:
https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT950_Firmware_Downloads_(legacy_WebUI)

Can you provide the batch number and hardware code of the device?

FIXED !!!!
You clearly know something the rest of us don't. :)
Loading RUT9XX_R_00.06.08.6  through the bootloader menu worked without the Checksum error.
I've now upgraded the FW to the latest 07.. and all working fine.

Batch 118

That's great news. Using Legacy bootloader ( RUT9XX_R_00.06.09.2 and lower), it is not possible to upgrade to RutOS RUT9 firmware (RUT9_R_00.07.00 and higher).
